Hey all! Post rotation standard format hits PTCG Live today and kicks off at IRL tournaments with Atlanta Regionals in a few weeks. There’s lots to talk about, but who doesn’t love starting things off with a new deck list and some card choice logic?
This is where I'm currently at on raging bolt and I wanted to share reasoning for some of the card inclusions.
Crispin is better than I thought, especially under item lock. This deck can suffer to item lock especially early game when you don't have energy in the discard pile. It creates situations where you can't get anything to help you with Noctowl because most of your deck is item cards, which is where Crispin comes in. Crispin is also like a backup professor sada's and can be used for accelerating energy to Teal mask, Cornerstone, or Mew ex if needed.
Energy switch can help you get energy onto a Pokemon your opponent might think is otherwise impossible, such as setting up a cornerstone or mew ex attack in 1 turn with crispin + energy switch. Sometimes opponents will see that you have all of your fighting energy on board, mostly when you use slither wing, and they might bring a raging bolt into the active which is unable to attack. But energy switch can move that energy around if needed.
A combination of Cornerstone + Slither Wing allows you to have a fighting chance against wall decks, especially since we have night stretcher and super rod to reuse these pokemon and ample energy acceleration with Crispin + energy switch for cornerstone since its not an ancient pokemon.
Slither Wing is good for KO’ing pikachu ex (since the burn will proc and knock it out after resolute heart happens) as well as a wall like mimikyu or even Fezandipiti ex which is weak to fighting.
I want to fit a jamming tower in, but havent identified what I want to cut for it yet - possibly the pal pad.
so - The above deck list and explanation actually comes from a post in my brand new community where members have access to my decklists, metagame predictions, and discussions with me (I also encourage members to bother me for a deck list if I haven’t covered an archetype you’re interested in!). I’m also holding an Atlanta Regionals prep class that is free for tier 2 members, so check that all out at this link
Post-Rotation Tier List
I created an early post-rotation tier list here:
If you want to watch it and hear my reasonings please do! But I’ll also post a screenshot of the final tier list from the video here.
Since then, my thoughts have changed on a couple of decks. I think I’d put terapagos boufalant (represented by terapagos) and Flareon down a tier, and I’d move Gardevoir up a tier.
More recently I uploaded this mega guide. Its over 65 slides of post rotation information including staple cards, techs, 30 deck lists, and an updated tier list. Check it out!
Additionally, I have made some very in-depth FREE guides on specific archetypes over on youtube, here is the one I made for Tera Box.
I’ve already made 10 posts in the decklists section of my community covering updates to deck lists and my reasonings. Much more to come over there, so definitely check it out if you enjoy how I explain things, my opinions on the meta, and you want to stay updated with all of that!

Btw you may notice that you can no longer monetarily support me here on substack. I will still be using substack as a way to engage my community and keep you updated with what I’m doing and free content time to time like today’s raging bolt list and analysis. I dislike taking money from people unless I know I am giving them exponential value on their investment, which is why it has taken me so long to curate a community like this on metafy and I am putting a lot of work into it.
Thanks for reading, talk to you again next time!
